Revlon "Love is On" Pop-Up Shop (Part 1 of 2)

Hello everyone! A little while back you may have seen my post about the Revlon "Love is On" Pop-Up Shop! Well today I'm going to tell you about what I thought of the event! The pop-up shop is a tent where:

"Revlon Beauty Advisors will be on hand offering on-trend makeovers and manicures, as well as one-on-one consultations to help guests find their perfect palette of Revlon makeup. [Guests] will be able to capture their finished beauty look at the Revlon photo wall and are encouraged to share it socially using the hashtag #LOVEISON for a chance to be featured on the Global Love Beacon in Times Square New York!"

Pretty cool right? There are still three pop-up shops left:
  • May 16-17 – New York, NY – Times Square
  • June 25-27 – Minneapolis – Twin Cities Jazz Festival
  • July 10-12 – Chicago, IL – Taste of Chicago
If you are in any of those towns, check out the pop up tent! Scroll through the pics below to learn more about the event and my experience there!

If you buy a Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy™ Nail, then they will give you a manicure for free with that color! My friend did this and her nail polish literally lasted for 2 weeks. The nail polish retails for $8.

REVIEW: Essie Nail Polish in "Penny Talk" + Keep

Hello everyone! I have always loved metallic colors so I'm excited to review the Essie nail polish in the color "Penny Talk" for you! It is from the Essie Mirror Metallics Nail Polish Collection.

A neutral metallic to me is such a wearable color. In the bottle, the nail polish is a beautiful coppery color but surprisingly in natural light the polish actually looks a little pinkish. This doesn't really bother me as the color is still really pretty- I was just surprised it didn't look copper all the time.

You can find this product at Ulta or other drugstores for around $8.50. I actually purchased mine though through the app called "Keep". I have been obsessed with this app since August and have gotten my friends hooked on it too. It is similar to Pinterest except it's only fashion, makeup, and home goods. You can also access Keep by their website (click here). If you "keep" stuff onto your profile, they'll also e-mail you if the product goes on sale!

Hope you check both of these out!

REVIEW: OPI's "First Date at the Golden Gate"

Hello everyone! The newest nail polish in my collection is OPI's "First Date at the Golden Gate"! It is from the San Francisco Nail Lacquer Collection and you can find it on Amazon ($5.50) and ULTA's website ($9.50)!

I really like this color! It looks just like the Golden Gate Bridge color! For some reason I let years go by without having a real red in my collection so justifying this purchase was easy. Lol I basically love all the colors in the San Francisco Collection and got to try four of them in a gift set- "First Date at the Golden Gate", "Muir Muir on The Wall" (see my review here), "The Cable Car-Pool Lane", "Peace and Love".

I could definitely see myself wearing this to a weekend outing or to a business meeting.

Hope you liked this post! Let me know your nail polish recommendations!

REVIEW: L'oreal's 116 Macaroon Me Madly

Hello everyone! I have fallen in love with another nail polish! This one is L'oreal's 116 Macaroon Me Madly from the Versailles Romance Collection that came out 2 years ago (you can still find it on Amazon). It is one of their Colour Riche Nail Colors that comes in a variety of other shades and retails for $4.79-$6.29 depending on the shade.

I think "Macaroon Me Madly" is such a perfect shade of pink that is not too light & not to "bubblegum-ish". I wore it to an interview & definitely think it passes as a business-appropriate color. This polish without a top coat lasted me about 3 days before it started chipping- so not great but not bad. I definitely recommend this color to you though if you like a creamy pink color!

Emily

Matching Nails and Rain Boots

Hi everyone!
It has been raining on and off in Georgia the past few weeks. I personally like the rain partially because it means that I get to wear my rain boots. :) The other day I noticed that my nail polish happened to match my boots. This color is called "Blue Moon" by Wet N' Wild. If you want to order it online, you can get it for $1.49! Go here.

I like to apply two coats of this and finish with a coat of OPI's top coat. Without the top coat, this nail polish will chip in two or three days so take preventative measures!

Hope you all are staying dry!

REVIEW: Essie Nail Polish "It's Genius"

Hi everyone! I recently decided to repaint my nails and I knew I wanted to go for a dark red or magenta color. I ended up picking Essie's nail polish in the color "It's Genius" and I love it! On the nails, it basically looks like a metallic burgundy color. In the bottle, it seems like there is a slight gold duo-chrome to the polish but you can't really see it when it's applied. Nonetheless, this polish is a great one if you want a different texture on your nails! In person, the shimmer almost makes it look like I have the stick on nail strips which is an unexpected but good thing!

This one's good to have for winter!

Back to School Winter Nails!

Hello everyone! Classes started again for me today. I have always been one of those people who try extra hard to look put together for the first day of class. For me, this is when I feel the most awake and fresh so I might as well look like it right? While picking out outfits for school I decided I also wanted to have a fun but subtle nail look.

I decided to use the colors "Summit of style" (top in pic above) and "Ladylike" (bottom) from Essie. I loveee the color "Ladylike"! It is the perfect fall/ winter color and is so easy to wear. With glitter nail polishes like "Summit of Style", I typically like to wear it on only a few fingers instead of creating an overwhelming design. I added it to my second finger and fourth finger (on my not pictured hand). I really liked the way this turned out!

Perfect Nail Polish for NYE!

Hello everyone! I wanted to do a quick post on a nail polish that I highly recommend! I think that if you need a bit of sparkle and shine for New Years Eve, Essie's luxeffects nail polish in "Summit of Style" is perfect! It is a rose-gold/ bronze color which will go nicely with any outfit!

You can wear it on one or two nails with a different shade underneath or by itself on every finger! While your friends will be wearing gold or silver glitter on their nails, you'll feel unique with this bronze color that no one else has!

Have fun tomorrow!

COMPARISON: Revlon's Nail Buffer VS. Trim's Buffing Block

Hi everyone! Today I will be comparing Revlon's Nail Buffer with the Trim's Buffing Block and inform you on which product I think is better. Both products were purchased at Target; Revlon's buffer was $3 and Trim's was $2. Here's what I noticed when comparing the products:

REVIEW: Ciate Caviar Mini Bar Nail Set

Hey everyone! If you shop at Sephora a lot, you have probably see the brand ciate in the store. ciate, in my opinion, is best known for their beads and textured nail polishes. I found one of their kits at TJ Maxx and couldn't pass it up because it cost only $12. The polishes in the kit are mini sized but that is still a great deal because one full-sized polish cost $15. The kit included 4 regular nail polishes and 4 bottles of beads. Here are my thoughts on the products:
  • Awesome nail polish- drys really quickly, easily layered, doesn't chip quickly
  • Here's how I applied the beads: put one coat of the colored nail polish on my nails, poured the beads over my nail (there was a tray under my hand), then put one top coat over it
    • Note that you can't keep going over the beads with the top coat because the color of the beads will start coming off and smear on your nails
  • It is very convenient that any kit with a bottle of beads contains a funnel. After you pour them out, you definitely want to keep the extras for next time!
  • The beads will stick on your nails for a few days but it is definitely easy to pick them off.

My Current Essie Nail Polish Collection!

Hey everyone! If you know me well, then you probably know that Essie is my favorite nail polish brand! The products last on my nails longer than ones from any other brand I've tried! Because I've recently discovered my love for Essie nail polishes, I currently only have eight different colors.

REVIEW: OPI Nail Lacquer "Muir Muir On The Wall"

Hey hey hey. Today I am going to quickly review O.P.I's Nail Lacquer in "Muir Muir On The Wall" for you.

When I saw this polish in the store I thought it was going to be a mix of green, yellow, and purple because that's what it looked like (you can't tell in the picture because of the flash). When I applied the nail polish though, I was surprised that the color just turned a metallic purple. In some lights, there appears to be a slight brown undertone (from the mixing of the purple and yellow pigments), but there is no true tri-chrome effect. The metallic purple, however, is still a very pretty color. It sort of reminds me of something that a Disney villain could wear!

In terms of lasting power, the nail polish has stayed on my nails for three days now and is still going strong! I have only gotten one or two tiny chips.

Overall, I recommend this polish to everyone! Check if it's on the clearance section of your Ulta by the way!

Products to Remove Glitter Nail Polish!

Hello! So one problem I was having this week was that I could not get my glitter nail polish off. If you're like me, sometimes you avoid putting on glitter nail polish because you know it's a hassle to get off.  I was doing some research and here are the top three products for getting off that stubborn glitter.

3 Ways to Remove Nail Polish Without Remover

So tell me if you've ever been a situation like this. You're about to leave your place for class & you're dressed up for an interview because you have one after your class. You look down at your hands & what do you know, your bright unprofessional nail color is chipping away & looks pretty horrible. When you go to your bathroom, you realize you forgot to go to the store & replace your nail polish remover.

That was a very specific situation (haha) but it has happened to me before. You can use these methods to remove nail polish without remover when you're traveling, heading to work, or going somewhere where you're nails need to look decent (like an interview)!

1. Use hairspray- Take a cotton ball, spray a few spritz of hairspray directly on it, and hold it on your nails for a few seconds. After that, start wiping your nail with the cotton ball until you see nail polish coming off.

2. Use a top coat- Apply the top coat on to your entire nail. Right after, take a paper towel and wipe the top coat away. You should see that it removes the nail polish layer under it as well.

3. Use perfume- Take a cotton ball, spray a few spritz of perfume directly on it, & hold it on your nails for a few seconds. After that, start wiping your nail with the cotton ball & you should see the polish come off. This method in my opinion works the best out of the three. It will make your hands smell for a long time though!

Hope these methods work for you!

REVIEW: Ulta's "Vintage Violet" Nail Polish

Hey! I wanted to share a nail color with you all that I've been really liking! It is called "Vintage Violet" by ULTA. This is a color that would be perfect for any time of year whether it be summertime or the beginning of the year. A great thing about this nail polish is the quality- it lasted over a week without chipping a bit! I would definitely recommend trying this shade and other ones from this brand!

P.S. My ring was a gift from my aunt in China!

REVIEW: Kiss Nail Dress Strips

Hey everyone! I wanted to share with you a set of sticker strips that I used when I went to an outdoor concert/ festival! I had always seen similar products in the grocery store but finally decided to try it out because I loveddd the print. This product was unique in that they gave you stickers for your entire nail and or for if you wanted to do a french tip with them.

Pros:
  • Awesome prints
  • Pack included 40 strips and a nail file
  • Price around $5-$6
  • Super easy to apply
  • Easy to peel off
Cons:
  • Did not last longer than 4 days
  •  Some edges near the cuticle would've taken a lot of work to fit the nail so they looked like they were sticking out (my ring and pinky finger).
The picture on the left is of me dressed for the Mad Decent Block Party concert! This is the event which I wore the nails to. In my opinion, they fit for this concert perfectly!

Definitely recommend that you try these! I got a lot of compliments on my last pair and plan to purchase another print!

Summertime: Purple Nails

Hey everyone! So recently I've been in a purple mood and actually got my nails and toenails painted purple. For my nails, I painted them the color "Gum Drop" by Revlon and my toenails are the color "Do you lilac it" by OPI.

Fingernails:
I love that this color pops and is perfect for Spring and Summer. It makes your nails stand out in a subtle way.. If that makes sense. I typically apply 2 to 3 coats of this polish to get the true color.

Toenails:
I decided to go with a deeper and darker purple for my toenails. I liked that this was definitely different than what other people put on their nails. It'll make your summer a little brighter!

Let me know what your favorite summer colors are!

Have you tried Sally Hansen Texturized Nail Color?

Hi everyone!
I was looking through Seventeen Magazine this morning and saw that Sally Hansen has come out with a new product! They are the Fuzzy Coat and Sugar Coat Texturized Nail Colors!

When I first saw this, I thought, how innovative!! This is something that other nail polish companies haven't thought of yet. But the more I looked at it I started thinking I bet this could actually look kind of weird on. Lol

Have any of you tried it yet?
Tell me what you think of them in the comments!
