REVIEW: Kat Von D Painted Love Lipsticks!

Hello everyone! I recently discovered that Marshall's sells discounted high-end makeup products! Last time I went, I found two Kat Von D Painted Love Lipsticks and got soo excited. They are in the shade Celebutard (pale pink) and Stiletto (red). The red shade is unlike any one I own- it is a red-orange tone and perfect for summer! The lipsticks are both creamy and moisturizing but I personally think the red lipstick applied/absorbed better. It was almost a jelly-like feeling whereas the nude lipstick sort of just sat on the top of my lips.

REVIEW: Maybelline SuperStay 24Hr 2-Step Lip Color

I am so excited to review an amazing product for you today! It is the Maybelline SuperStay 24Hr 2-Step Lip Color (I used the shade "Keep It Red"). It retails for $8.99 and at ULTA they were doing a BOGO 1/2 off sale! This product contains a non-drying stain and a lip balm/gloss. This lip stain has, by far, the longest lasting power of any product I have EVER tried! With that being said, I suggest putting the color on slowly to make sure that it is applied perfectly because once it sets, it sets. The good thing though is that the applicator is shaped in a way that you can use the main part to get the color on your lips, but then use the tip to accurately outline your lips.

The day I tested the product, I ate three meals, drank water, used the lip balm, and slept. I did NOT reapply the lip stain a single time and you can clearly see in the second row pics that the color made it to the end of the day! I didn't take the color off before bed just to test it and when I woke up, it looked just like the second row pics.

REVIEW: Maybelline SuperStay 14HR Lipstick

Hey everyone! If you saw my last post, I mentioned that I was excited about all of my new products! I decided to try them right away so that I could write reviews for you guys! I've realized that when I'm working all day, I'll apply lipstick in the morning but forget to reapply it throughout the day. With that being said, I realized that I needed to try lip products with some serious lasting power. The first product I purchased and tested was the Maybelline SuperStay 14HR Lipstick in the color "Forever Fuschia". It cost $8.99 and is the most perfect, everyday color for my skin tone!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Test: This product applies just like a lipstick and the "Forever Fuschia" has a little bit of shimmer to it. NOTE: It is important to use a lip scrub or a method to get rid of dead skin on your lips before applying this lipstick. If you don't do this, it will definitely show. The first row of photos was taken right after I applied the lipstick.

Fall Favorites

Fall Favorites

Body moisturizer, $4.02 / Sephora Collection gift sets kit / Forever 21 brown shoulder bag / Revlon black lipstick / H&M beige high heel boots, $48 / Pier 1 Imports floral decor

Today I wanted to share with you all my personal top 5 Fall favorites looks! For makeup, I love mixing warm hues as shown by the Revlon lipstick and Sephora cheek set; For accessories, I wear brown purses and boots a lot in the Fall especially since it always matches with jeans! Lastly, it's important to keep your hands moisturized when the weather starts getting colder so I like using a great hand cream called Hand Food from Soap&Glory which is available at Sephora (it also smells fantastic!).

P.S. If you are looking for a way to save some money shopping, then check out Raise! It's an awesome website that offers discounted gift cards from popular retailers such as Sephora, Forever 21, H&M, and more! I love shopping at Forever21 so I was excited to see that they had their gift cards on sale for 6% off their valued price! The other great thing about this site is that if you have extra store credit or gift cards lying around you can sell them too! Good luck shopping this season!

Love this Look: Amber Heard's Classic Red Lip!

Hello everyone! I am working on getting back into the the swing of things with blogging! I was looking online at 2014 celebrity makeup looks and one that stood out to me was Amber Heard's makeup at the 2014 Art of Elysium Heaven Gala. She nailed the "Classic Hollywood Red Lip Look"!

Here are the reasons why this look worked on her:
  • She did not overpower her statement lips with dark eye makeup! The best way to pull off this look is to keep the eyes natural. I'm not saying don't put eye makeup on; by all means do so but just stick to neutral shadows, thin eyeliner, & a few coats of mascara on your top lashes.
  • Her red lips are done perfectly. They are lined well and the red extends all the way to the edge of her lips.
  1. TIP: It will look better & make you feel better too if you brush your teeth with whitening toothpaste before you go out with red lips!
  2. TIP: For smooth lips, exfoliate with either a sugar scrub on your finger or on a toothbrush. Afterwards, apply a lip balm and then the red color.
  • Her skin is flawless! There is not one imperfection showing and her skin is glowing as well. You can see that they have applied light peach blush as well as a highlight above her cheek bones. Makes for a glamorous look!

I hope these reasons and tips help you achieve your own perfect "red lips" look. I personally love this recurring trend and think it's a classic.

Leave me any comments or suggestions for new posts!

Xoxo,
Emily

- Great pigmentation
- Retails for around $5- depends on where you buy it
- Beautiful packaging!

Tip: Before putting on red lipstick, brush your teeth so they will look even more white in contrast to the red color!

Trend to Try: Mulberry Lips!

In the last month, I've really been loving darker lip colors for the Fall and Winter! Mulberry lips are a recent trend that has been spotted on celebrities and the runway! I would describe Mulberry as being a rich, dark burgundy color. So this holiday season, if red is too bright of a color for you, then go for the deeper, more sophisticated look with Mulberry lips!

Trend To Try: Purple Lipstick!

I have really been into wearing purples lately and was inspired to do this post after I found a Milani lipstick in "Grape-Tini" on sale! Like my friend was telling me, if you have a darker skin tone, then purples will really pop against your skin! This would be a great trend for stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new. For me personally, I would do this for more of a night time look or for going out! Also take note that with darker lipstick colors such as purple, they are not always true to the color of the tube on your lips. For example, in my pictures below, the lipstick in the tube looks straight up purple, but on my lips it actually looks a bit lighter with a tint of magenta. So make sure to test out or swatch the color before turning down the lipstick!

REQUEST: Revlon Pink Afterglow Lipgloss and Wet N' Wild Pink Ice Lipstick Review!

Alrighty so it was asked that I do a review on the Revlon Pink Afterglow Lipgloss. Since I was already taking some photos, I figured that I would review the Wet N' Wild lipstick that I got for you all too. I absolutely love both of these products and wore them on my lips last Friday!

Here are pictures of my lips without any product on them:
So, my first impression of the Revlon Pink Afterglow Lipgloss was that it is super glittery. I don't have a huge problem with this but I know many people do. The lipgloss itself is pretty sheer but gives a nice gloss to the lips. There isn't much of a taste or a strong makeup smell to the product. Overall, I think this lipgloss is so pretty and nice to put over any lipstick or on bare lips.

The Wet N' Wild lipstick is a pretty bright pink color. It applies very smoothly and does not have a heavy makeup smell or anything. It is a mix of a frosty and pearly finish. I liked this one a lot and it only cost $0.99! All of the pictures below have flash.
And here is the combo of the lipstick and lip gloss. Overall, I was really happy with both of these products!
Let me know what you think of these products/look and let me know what else you would like me to review!!!!

Cat-Shaped Lipstick!!!!!!!!!!

I was reading my Teen Vogue magazine yesterday and I saw these cat-shaped lipsticks by Paul and Joe! They are so original and adorable! They come in a lot of different shades and have super cute packaging. They are high end lipsticks and cost $25 each. If you have tried these before, let me know the quality of the lipstick because I would love to try them but want to make sure they are worth the money. They are so adorable!
